Marina Kuleva, Denitza Marinova and Iva Petrova are three women from one family, who produce wonderful cloth articles, designed for households.

Their potholders, tablecloths and aprons, decorated with interesting applications are beautiful supplements for every kitchen. Additionally, with their picture frames and photo albums you can save your memories for a long time.

Besides, they can manufacture interesting greeting cards, unique martenitzas (twined tasseled red and white thread – symbol of spring and health), souvenirs and a variety of additional items.

After their participation at the first Christmas Craft Fair, “ Tradition and Business “ in Sofia, an initiative of JOBS project, their articles became very popular among Bulgarians and foreigners.

Such articles are wonderful and original presents for people of any age and nationality, for any occasion.

Nikolina Filipova is the Director of the “Folk Applied Arts” club, connected with the community center “St. St. Kirilus and Methodius” – Silistra. The Club was founded in 1999 and financed by United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) with one basic goal – restoration and preservation the traditional Bulgarian applied arts.

Currently, Nikolina Filipova is gathering a group of women who are experienced in their respective handy-crafts. They will manufacture hand-made articles on a homemade horizontal loom.

The articles, made from natural raw materials and under old-time patterns and techniques, are suitable for modern interiors. They also produce traditional costumes from all ethnographic regions, as well as modern dresses with hand-made applications, such as laces and embroidery.

Small woven bags and handmade socks with traditional Bulgarian patterns were a great success during the Christmas Craft Fair in Sofia, Bulgaria.

A tour-agency, working in the area of cultural and historical tourism, took an interest in the activities of the club.
